Nostalgia Stocking: A Needle Adventures Chart UPDATED

Nostalgia Chart with Threads, Courtesy of gail1156

An eBay seller has posted the Needle Adventures chart for a stocking called "Nostalgia" with various threads and a 16x24 piece of 18 count canvas.    The auction starting price is $30 with $5 for "standard shipping."  The seller gail1156 says the chart is dated 1992 and kindly allowed me to reuse her auction photos here.

UPDATE:  Sadly, this chart didn't find a home.  Hopefully the seller will relist the auction.

"Nostalgia:  A Keepsake Stocking" was published in the November-December 1991 issue of Needlepoint Plus magazine.  It appears to be the same design, published in the magazine and then republished as a stand alone Needle Adventures chart the next year.  Here is the article about the magazine version.

Note Artists Collection Sticker

UPDATE:  Another eBay seller has this up for auction.  This chart is in a plastic bag with a "published by Artists Collection" sticker that includes Loretta's shop address.

VIctorian Heart on eBay UPDATED

This has been a banner week for fans of Loretta's designs on eBay.  A copy of the January/February 1991 issue of Needlepoint Plus magazine is for sale, with a starting bid of $8.00 plus free "standard shipping."

As always, although I may know the seller in some cases, I have no financial interest in any eBay sales of Loretta's work.

UPDATE:  The magazine containing Loretta's chart sold for $16.49 plus free shipping.

Tobacco Leaf

Tobacco Leaf
Tobacco Leaf was quite unusual as Loretta designs go, as it was based on a Marcy Covington painted canvas of a traditional china pattern.   It was published in the July August 1986 issue of Needlepoint News with a line drawing that was supposed to be transferred to blank needlepoint canvas.  Each section was then to be filled in with the stitches Loretta choose when she stitched the painted canvas version.  I believe this was the first published design by Mrs. Spears.

The line drawing, model and magazine cover are courtesy of Ann in Baton Rouge.  By the way, Marcy Covington painted canvases are still available.  They are distributed by Julia's Needleworks.  I do not see the tobacco leaf pattern in the catalog but it might still be available.

Tobacco Leaf patterns are traditional on porcelain in particular.  Here are some modern examples but there are many to be found in junk shops and antique emporiums.

Christmas Heirlooms Ornaments

Christmas Heirlooms courtesy of Ann in Baton Rouge

The two small "Christmas Heirlooms" roll up ornaments are shaped like the free ornament on the Rainbow Gallery website.  (For link to the free design, look in the right hand column.)  The instructions for both Christmas Heirlooms appeared in the December 1992 issue of Needlepoint Plus.  Images courtesy of Ann in Baton Rogue.

Note that the colors of Debbie's ornament are what were used in Loretta's model.  The magazine photo Ann scanned for us is a bit off in color.  I'm told all the Needlepoint Plus photos are not true to life.

I think Debbie's ornament below is called Yule Roll.  I will have to check my copy of the magazine to see what the Bargello ornament is called.

This design was also published as a Needle Adventures chart in 1992.  The stocking in both the article and chart appears to be identical but I don't know if the materials list is the same.
