Circles of Time

Circles of Time Clock Face

Circles of Time is a clock face design published in the January February 1987 issue of Needlepoint News.  The description in the magazine reads, "Circles have long represented the continuity of time.  And time has a pulse as has the needle.  The needlework clock above is called Circles of Time, designed and worked by Loretta Spears. She used the color ecru in DMC floss and perle cotton to create a multi-textured background and added Balger gold braid for an elegant shimmer.  Among the stitches used are:  the four-sided pulled thread for the background and, in the circles, several tie stitches such as the sheaf and diagonal fly."

Balger gold braid is now known as Kreinik braid, although I am told by several people that Balger and Kreinik aren't identical.
